Starbucks is Taking Climate Initiative with Hilton Displays and SloanLED

It’s not a surprise that our planet needs help to prevent a detrimental climate crisis. Businesses always say they are seeking new ways to minimize their environmental footprint, but what are they actually doing to prevent this urgent problem?
Brands that are industry leaders hold the responsibility of setting precedent for other brands to follow. If the big corporations are actionless, the climate crisis will not change. One brand that is stepping up to address this issue is Starbucks. Starbucks and participating stores have a framework in place called the “Greener Stores Framework”. Under this plan, Starbucks aims to reduce carbon emissions with better in-store solutions, like lighting, food offerings, and dairy replacements. Through this plan, participating stores have already reduced energy emissions by 30% when compared to their prior store designs.

Over the years, Hilton Displays and Starbucks have formed a strong relationship with Hilton Displays producing thousands of signs for their stores. In order to align with the “Greener Store Framework”, Hilton Displays partnered with SloanLED, in 2018, to offer new LED lighting solutions for Starbucks’ entire Exterior SB signage package. After the implementation of the LEDs in Starbucks’ signage, SloanLED said, there were “on average, savings of 35–40% less product used and 16–25% lower energy cost on most applications.”

Because LEDs use less power than regular fluorescent sources and have a higher lifetime longevity of 70,000 hours when compared to 20,000 hours, they are the future of sustainability. By saving power and reducing carbon emissions in their stores, Starbucks is making a positive impact on the planet and creating a better outcome for the earth’s future.
